As part of our major project,we were asked to divide up into small groups and produce a small video project of high quality and portray original ideas and make this vision of ours happen.
Our group thought long and hard about what type of production we were going to create, but here are a few that we all mutually agreed on.
- A video on Sydney's night life
- An advertisement for a social awareness such as anorexia
- Student life (SRC)
The project was based around the day in the life of a club DJ, who is trying desperately to make his love of music work with the stress and attention needed to complete postgraduate law – without compromising either of them. The project came to a standstill as he didn’t feel comfortable giving us access to the most personal and intimate parts of his life. He didn’t feel at ease with the knowledge of people knowing about his openness and forthrightness, so this in turn affected the final project and so it was scrapped after one day of shooting. This took a toll on the so called ‘independence’ of this mission and our goal became unworkable. Althoug,h we as a group were quite determined not to let this affect the 'independent' status of the project, we soon realized that this was going to be unrealistic.
We therefore changed our topic to Student life. We as students, know what it's like to experience the stress from uni and try to juggle uni work and a social life. Sometimes uni can get a bit to much with all the assessments, exams, deadlines etc, and the purpose of a student union or SRC is to develop a sense of community among its members and to provide a range of social, political, cultural, sporting and recreational activities in which students can participate. So our video in which we are going to create is soley dedicated to showing students how fun student life can be by helping promote the student union and src.
